The big BA

BA steak in style

Well Buenos Aires has had quite a build up. Not only has it been on the travel wish list for a long long time, all the way through our journey we were told how amazing it was.
Our bus journey from Puerto Madryn was one of the longest and the worst so far - so we were all the more glad to arrive in BA and to find, on first sight, it looked worth the wait!
Our first night was a hive of activity, whilst avoiding Gio seeing the England footie scores we ran round trying to sort out an apartment, and got back to the hostel for the replays. We somehow got very lucky and found an amazing apartment in the San Telmo area of the city.

Living in style in BA
Once settled in, I signed up for a couple of weeks of Spanish school once more and we pretended for a few weeks that we too were citizens of this very cool city.

Beautiful old buildings, San Telmo

Week three bought some very very cold weather and my mum! It was wonderful to see a familiar face after such a long time. We had to feel sorry for mum joining our slightly bonkers twosome - ten months in each others pockets does something funny to the brain! But she seemed to survive and better still enjoy her week playing backpacker with us. Well I say backpacker to be fair there really wasn't any roughing it!

We took in the sights of BA (as much as is possible in minus temperatures). Gio at the best steak of his life, (twice in fact, we had to go back as he loved it so much).

We took the train out to Tigre, a lovely suburb of BA that is mostly water based. The houses are spread across the Delta and you take boat 'buses' or your own boat to get around. The houses were gorgeous. We were jealous.
